Los Angeles (USA), May 7 (EFE).- Chilean actor Pedro Pascal was the big winner at the MTV Movie & TV Awards, taking home three awards for his performance in the series “The Last of Us”.

“I am an MTV kid, this recognition means the world to me. It is an honor (…) all young people are my heroes and I would not be here without you”, said the actor after receiving the first golden trophy in the shape of a popcorn container in the best hero category.

Thanks to the program “The Last of Us”, based on the video game of the same name, Pascal also received the award for best series and best duo for the duo he made in the HBO Max fiction with Bella Ramsey.

The MTV Movie & TV Awards are very casual film and television awards, which recognize categories such as best kiss or best fight and, in addition, one of their singularities is that they do not distinguish between men and women in their acting sections.

Although the ceremony was scheduled to be broadcast live this Sunday, the chain was forced to cancel the red carpet and the live event after several of the attendees announced that they were withdrawing from the gala in support of the current strike Writers of the Writers Guild of America.

Instead, MTV aired a prerecorded special, and category winners sent their thanks via video.

The horror tape “Scream VI” was crowned the best film and the confrontation between its characters Gale Weathers, played by Courteney Cox, and the masked murderer Ghostface, managed to win in the category of best fight.

Tom Cruise won best performance in a movie for “Top Gun: Maverick,” while Jenna Ortega’s performance in “Wednesday” earned her a golden popcorn for best performance in a television series.

The award for scariest performance went to actress Jennifer Coolidge in the series “The White Lotus”, Adam Sandler took the award for best comedic performance for “Murder Mystery 2” and Elizabeth Olsen was crowned the best villain for “Doctor Stand in the Multiverse of Madness”.

Among the distinctions of the MTV Movie & TV Awards also included the award for best documentary for “Selena Gomez: My Mind & Me”, or the recognition for the best kiss for Madison Bailey and Rudy Pankow in “Outer Banks”.

In terms of music, Taylor Swift’s “Carolina” won the trophy for best song and the best musical moment went to Sofia Carson and the song “Come Back Home” from the movie “Purple Hearts”.
