Pelham Bay Park, playa de Orchard Beach

Pelham Bay Park is immense, more than three times the size of Manhattan’s Central Park, and is the largest park in the city.

Visitors can explore miles of trails and hiking trails, two golf courses and a stunning coastline that stretches 13 miles.

Athletes can use various fields and playing fields and children can have fun in the playgrounds.

There are also several recreational areas and a wide variety of plant and animal life.

Pelham Bay Park contains many geographical attractions, both natural and man-made. It includes several peninsulas, the former Hunter and Twin Islands, and a lagoon.

It is also a popular destination for hiking, cycling and running.

Dogs are welcome but must be on a leash at all times.

Pelham Bay Park has five parking lots if you decide to drive.

You can also get there by taking the Bx5, Bx1, BX12-SBS, BX 23, Bx29, BX M8, Q50, and Westchester Line 45.

Bus service may vary and we recommend checking the schedules on the MTA and Westchester Transit websites.

And if you decide to use the subway, take the 6 train to the Pelham Bay Park station.

The park is open from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. The playgrounds close earlier, at 9 p.m.

And if you want to enjoy the beach, Orchard Bay is part of the Pelham Bay Park complex and is the only public beach in New York City.

This beach resort, also known as “The Bronx Riviera,” is over a mile long.

Among other attractions, it has a sand front divided into 13 sections, a promenade and a central pavilion with food businesses and shops.

Recreational facilities include two playgrounds, two picnic areas, a large parking lot and 26 sports courts.

Please note that during the beach season, parking at Orchard Beach is not free, and prices vary depending on the days of your visit and the type of vehicle you use.
