The leader of the rebellious considered “incomprehensible” the withdrawal of the amendments of the PCF on the pension reform.

LFI leader Jean-Luc Mélenchon called on MPs not to “rush” to the key pension reform article on the retirement age at 64, criticizing the “incomprehensible” withdrawal of communist amendments.

“Incomprehensible withdrawal of the PCF amendments. Why rush to article 7? The rest of the law does not count? strategic differences within Nupes.

Communist deputies announced Thursday morning to withdraw some 350 amendments to the reform bill in order to discuss the postponement of the legal age to 64 before the exam deadline on Friday evening, calling on all other parliamentarians to do the same.

“Let each parliamentarian take their responsibilities,” pleaded their spokesperson Sébastien Jumel to the press.

Majority and government “want to circumvent the parliamentary debate” and avoid addressing article 7 on the postponement of the retirement age from 62 to 64, said his colleague Pierre Dharréville, judging that “the most effective decision” was the withdrawal of amendments to expedite.

The majority points to disagreements within the Nupes

After Jean-Luc Mélenchon’s tweet, the macronists immediately pointed out the disagreements within the Nupes in the hemicycle. Jean-Luc Mélenchon “challenges our communist colleagues”, noted Sylvain Maillard (Renaissance). “He is saying very clearly (that) it is the Nupes, the LFI who are blocking, he recognizes that they are blocking”, he pointed out before a suspension of the session.

The communist group withdrew its amendments “after having thought, in full sovereignty with the only compass, to be useful to people and to the social movement”, assured Sébastien Jumel. When the debates resumed, he again called on his colleagues to “speed up”.

“Jean-Luc Mélenchon is wrong to think that we should not go to article 7”, also estimated the socialist deputy Jérôme Guedj on BFMTV.

A “rocking” for Gabriel Attal

The Minister of Public Accounts Gabriel Attal for his part denounced a “rocking” and a “confession” by Jean-Luc Mélenchon, who wants to “draw out the debates”.

Some 4,000 amendments remain to be discussed before tackling Article 7, many of which come from the Insoumis. After a fleeting acceleration Thursday morning, the debates skated in the Assembly. The left considered “incomprehensible” the device of long careers, with 43 or 44 years of contribution according to the age of entry into the world of work before 21 years.

It’s “totally delusional, within six months, you take a year more or less, haphazardly. Do you intend to continue to play dice on people’s lives?”, Attacked the LFI Hadrien Clouet.

“Long careers are in Article 8, the answers can be provided. This morning you got into a good rhythm, you are a little less in the obstruction, we can do it”, replied Gabriel Attal.
