Agder police district reported on Friday evening at 20:55 on Twitter that a police had fired shots in the center of Kristiansand.

The person has been shot in the leg and has been sent to Sørlandet Hospital, where he is being followed up by health personnel. It is blocked by an area in Nybyen in the center of Kristiansand.

According to TV 2’s reporter on the scene, the incident took place right next to a skate park in the area.

In a press release, the police state that a threat situation arose prior to the shooting incident.

– The police received a report on Friday evening that a person was walking with a weapon in the center of Kristiansand. When the police came into contact with the person, a threatening situation arose which resulted in the police firing shots, the police write.

The police personnel at the scene were not injured. For routine reasons, the Bureau has been notified.

– The purpose of the investigation is to elucidate the course of events and the specific circumstances surrounding the situation where shots were fired.

In addition to the Special Investigation Unit, the National Crime Agency has also been notified, who will assist with crime scene investigations.

The weapon involved will be secured and the Bureau will as soon as possible question both service personnel and witnesses.

Both the Bureau and the police warn that no further information about the incident will be given for the sake of the further investigation.
