“Johannes Altmeyer is a journalist with many years of expertise in the field of editorial newsletter management and we are therefore very pleased that he will now be responsible for our existing portfolio from the Tagesspiegel Checkpoint to the volunteer newsletter and will also be developing new products,” say the Tagesspiegel editors-in-chief Lorenz Maroldt and Christian Tretbar.

Johannes Altmeyer says: “Checkpoint, districts, background briefings: The Tagesspiegel has built up the most exciting newsletter portfolio in Germany and is thus firmly anchored in people’s daily lives, not only in the capital. This journalistic offer is unique in Germany. I look forward to expanding all of this with my colleagues and making it even better.”

Johannes Altmeyer comes from Axel-Springer-Verlag, where he was previously senior editor of the newsletter at Business Insider. In this function, he wrote the weekday BI Daily Newsletter and was responsible for the development, restructuring and expansion of the newsletter portfolio of Business Insider and the start-up scene. From 2019 to 2021, Johannes Altmeyer worked as CvD/editorial manager “Morning Briefing” at Media Pioneer, a company founded by Gabor Steingart.
