As a result of the repression of the protests that took place recently, the NGO Amnesty International made a report stating that there was a systematic violation of human rightssomething that the Peruvian government flatly denied.

From the NGO, the State is accused of being “committing serious human rights violations in the context of violent state repression against social protests” and that the authorities acted “with a marked racist biastaking cruelty against those populations that have historically been discriminated against”.

Through a statement, the Ministry of Justice and Human Rights expressed: “The government is categorical in affirming that in Peru there is no policy of massive and systematic violation of human rights or what they have called ‘systemic racism’ in the actions of the different authorities.”

In Peru you live a political and social instability since the removal of the president Pedro Castillo and the assumption of Dina Boluarte to office, since the protesters not only ask for the resignation of the new president but also for general elections to be held.

Until now, according to the Ombudsman’s Office, in the protests around 49 people have died (48 civilians and one police officer) in clashes and another 11 due to roadblocks, and at least 1,298 people (among them, 333 police officers and six soldiers) were injured.
