Google officially presented its first foldable smartphone, the Pixel Fold, during the I/O event. In the last weeks several details were advanced, but now we have the final ones.

The direct competitor of the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4 stands in the thinnest foldable on the market, with a thickness of just 12.1 millimeters. Plus, it’s the thinnest Pixel model, when unfolded, at 5.8mm.

Sundar Pichai CEO of Alphabet (Google parent), wrote on his Twitter account: “Bring the best of Google Artificial Intelligence to people with our Google Tensor. I can’t wait for people to try it!”

Pichai is referring to the company’s Tensor G2 chip, the same processor used in the Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro phones in 2022. It will also use Android 14 operating system.

At the moment, Google’s Pixel Fold will only be available in the United States, United Kingdom, Germany and Japan.

Let’s go with the technical data of the new smartphone. It has a 7.6-inch folding screen, a 120H refresh rate and a 5.8-inch FHD+ cover display and 120Hz refresh rate.

Its water resistance rating is IPX8, also having Gorilla Glass Victus, for protection against scratches and falls.

The Pixel Fold stands out for its triple lens camera on the back, a 48 MP main camera, 10.8 MP telephoto lens, 5X optical zoom and 10.8 MP ultra-wide angle.

It also has a 9.5 MP camera on the front. and another 8 MP inside.

Google’s foldable battery offers longer than 24 hours and up to 72 hours in Extreme Battery Saver mode. It is 4821 mAh, recharging at 30W.

It has an interpreter mode dual screen as part of the software, split screen mode and tabletop mode.

The Pixel Fold arrives in Obsidian and Porcelain colors. Its price? $1,799.
