After the leak of the “Traffic Feasibility Study” around the road plans for Bregenz, VOL.AT published a list of those areas – also privately owned – that would have to be bought and built on for the project of the century.

In Bregenz, literally no stone is left unturned. After a turbulent weekend with lots of political exchange of blows from all camps, VOL.AT and VN.AT published excerpts from the “Transport Feasibility Study” commissioned by the state and city.

The study presents four different variants of the traffic solution that would set the course for the state capital in many respects for generations to come. Variants 1 and 4 are identical in terms of land use and are subsequently referred to as the “long tunnel” variant. The possible underground solution for rail traffic, which was welcomed by large parts of the population and the affected mayors, also depends in part on which of the analyzed road variants is used.

An exciting point for all property owners, whether private, city, country or commercial, is the land use of the different variants.

Michael Ritsch: “The study should first be presented to the city council”

“The study examined the feasibility of the different variants and showed the costs. We can see that it is feasible in principle and the further procedure must now be coordinated with the state. But first of all we want to complete the study together with the study authors present the city council so that the political representatives are informed in detail about the results,” says Mayor Michael Ritsch in response to a VOL.AT request.

Relocation of the state road as the linchpin

One point that will be of particular interest to property owners is the planned relocation of the city street. “Regarding variant 1 (above-ground laying) it can be summarized that this variant can be assessed positively and approvable if the proposed improvement of the S-curve Quellenstrasse is included in the planning from a technical point of view of traffic facility planning,” says the study authors’ summary, for example the Bernard Group. Variant 1, which is apparently favored, would enable cost-efficient and sensible use of the land. And at the same time leave the way open for the ÖBB underground route, which is also in the room.
