Last week there was the first big excitement of this year. As you may have noticed on the website, unlike many other editorial offices, Square Enix did not provide us with a pre-key for Forspoken, apparently because we were too critical of the game beforehand. It has not yet been decided how we will proceed – you can read more about this in the linked statement by Lukas. At the time of going to press, everything was still okay: for the new play5, we took another look at the open-world RPG in advance, provided you with the gameplay information you should know about the release, and looked to the future with some sympathy, especially with the Buffed colleagues received a first key around the issue deadline.
Apart from that, the magazine is typically very special for the time of year – after all, there are traditionally few releases around the New Year and hardly any gameplay presentations or events with exciting news. Of course, there are always a few exceptions – for example, we were able to take a first, very promising look at EA Sports PGA Tour: Road to the Masters and take, among other things, the next-gen update for the RPG masterpiece The Witcher 3 and One Piece Odyssey under the magnifying glass. From there we look back at the tops & flops of the past year 2022 and devote ourselves to the topic “gambling mechanics in gaming” in an XXL report.
