Although the Playstation 5 has always been extremely popular, it was initially quite difficult for Sony to keep up with the demand. The pandemic led to a dire shortage of components, but nowadays it seems to be much easier to find a Playstation 5 on the shelves, and that is reflected in the sales figures.
NPD Group’s analyst and also manager Mat Piscatella has, for example, officially revealed via Twitter that Playstation 5 has now overtaken the sales figures for Playstation 4 in the US, measured where they were after about 29 months on the market.
Furthermore, he states that it is mainly the increase in sales figures for the Playstation 5 that drove the increase in the US gaming market in March, and that it was also the best-selling console last month.
Great job, Sony!
