During an interview with the microphones of Famitsu, Hideaki Nishino of Sony has provided some clarifications on the reasons that led the Japanese giant not to make PlayStation VR2 wireless.

The man, who fills the role of SVP of Platform Experience at Sony, he explained that, while more convenient, wireless technology for a device of this type would have a negative impact on quality.

Here are Nishino’s words:

“We are well aware that a wireless device would have improved the user experience as we are always conducting research to evaluate all possibilities. However, there is still a substantial difference in performance between a wired and wireless solution .”

It therefore seems that the decision of the Sony technicians has not been influenced by any increases in the costs of the product (already particularly expensive), but is the result of a careful evaluation capable of offering agaming experience free from interference and other issues which could occur with current wireless technology. However, this does not seem to exclude that additional solutions may arrive in the future that allow you to play without a cable connected to the console, as happens with other peripherals on the market.

Did you know that some PlayStation VR2 games will come both physical and digital?
