There is a bomb in Dortmund’s Rombergpark. It will be defused today. The Johanniter Clinic and the B54 are within the evacuation radius.
At the Romberg Park in Dortmund lies one bomb from the Second World War. As the city announced on Tuesday morning, one of the two suspicions was confirmed. The defusing is still today. Affected are, among others, the Johanniter rehabilitation clinic and the B54. It is not yet clear when the highway will be closed.
The suspicious points were identified during preparations for construction work – as early as January. As usual, aerial photos from the period directly after the war were evaluated for this purpose. Three points of suspicion emerged. First test drilling had ruled out a suspicious point in advance. But the excavations on Monday and Tuesday confirmed the suspicion in one case. The dud will still defused on Tuesday.

The bomb is right behind the Johanniter rehabilitation clinic at a bridge over the Schondelle near the garden path. The clinic has to be completely evacuated. 200 partly bedridden patients have to get out.
The city of Dortmund explained that the clinic, fire brigade and public order office had been preparing for the evacuation since January. Patient transports were already in front of the clinic in the morning “on suspicion”, so the evacuation started immediately. The trolleys bring mobile patients to the Westfalenhallen – Bedridden come in other clinics under.
Already 2019 the Johanniter Clinic had been evacuated for bomb disposal, but only partially. Around 50 patients had to temporarily move to other parts of the building.

Of the evacuation are also residents affected, but only 75 people have to leave their homes. It is also affected Südstern allotment garden.
