The farewell bells are slowly ringing for Windows 10. Microsoft will officially stop selling on January 31, 2023. Corresponding information is now also shown on the websites in the Microsoft online shop.

The final phase of the Windows version has thus begun in the product life cycle. Windows 10 will continue to be supported until October 14, 2025, which is a little longer than two and a half years.

Microsoft’s online store is now showing signs of the end of sales of Windows 10.

Microsoft is already pointing out the end of sales in its own online shop. There is now the text to read: “The offer for this Windows 10 download ends on January 31, 2023. Windows 10 will continue to be supported until October 14, 2025 with security updates that protect your PC from viruses, spyware and other malware”. . A link below then leads to Windows 11 in the Microsoft shop.

Those interested in the operating system will then have to switch to other sources. Amazon, eBay and retail retailers will continue to offer Windows 10 licenses. But the supply is likely to dwindle here too.

Companies that use volume licenses from Microsoft are unlikely to notice much of the end of sales. You still have access to licenses for all versions of Windows and can use them as usual.

The sales stop comes at a time when some users are considering switching from the no longer supported Windows 8.1 to Windows 10. In addition to the alternative sources of supply, there is also the option of downgrading to Windows 10 with a Windows 11 license.

Microsoft is apparently trying to bring as many users as possible up to date with Windows 11. Every license purchase for Windows 11 pays into the account of this operating system, regardless of whether a Windows 10 is activated at the end. With the official usage figures for the operating systems, the statistics for Windows 11 should therefore go up shortly.
