He suwalki corridor is a 70 km long piece of land that separates the Russian enclave from kaliningrad of belarus across the border between Poland and Lithuania.
This piece of border territory between Poland and Lithuania deprives the Russians of a direct connection between Kaliningrad, territory that the Soviet Union after World War II, and Russia through Belarus, a puppet state of the Kremlin.
Since the fall of the Soviet Unionthe Russian imperialists have dreamed of occupying the part of Polish territory through which the corridor runs in order to open it up and establish a land connection with the Russian Baltic enclave.
Poland has warned on numerous occasions of this danger, a danger that, with the outbreak of the war in UkraineIt seems more real than ever.
The arrival in Belarus of thousands of fighters of the wagner group Belarus has once again set off alarm bells.
Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawieckireported the BBC, warned that at least 100 mercenaries from the Wagner Group have settled in the Belarusian city of Grodno, the closest Polish town to the border with Poland and the starting point of the corridor.
“The situation is becoming more and more dangerous,” he warned. The Polish prime minister believes that “most likely (the wagner mercenaries) disguise themselves as Belarusian border guards and help illegal immigrants to gain access to Polish territory in order to destabilize Poland.”
“It is also likely that they will try to enter Poland pretending to be illegal immigrants, and that poses new threats,” he added.
Mateusz Morawiecki warned that Belarus and the Wagner Group could be preparing a new hybrid attack against Poland using immigration as a weapon, as they already did in 2021 the months before the outbreak of the war in Ukraine.
As a preventive measure, Poland moved the border area with Belarus to 1,000 soldiers to reinforce the border.
