Police: Alleged dealer had mouth full of drugs

The pursuit of a suspected bike thief brought the police in Mönchengladbach a curious arrest: when the police caught the suspect, he had unusually bulging cheeks. Turns out, his mouth was full of packets of drugs.

The 41-year-old had hidden 49 “bubbles” with presumably cocaine in his mouth, the police said on Wednesday. A judge saw the allegations as so sound that he sent the 41-year-old into custody on Wednesday at the request of the public prosecutor. In addition, he was previously known to the police for drug offenses, said a spokeswoman when asked.

Mann reacted nervously when he spotted police officers

The case happened on Tuesday near Mönchengladbach Central Station. The crew of a patrol car had noticed a cyclist. When he saw the patrol car, he suddenly dropped his cell phone and quickly picked it up again, but he was noticeably nervous, the police said.

At a supermarket he left the bike – according to the police a high-quality mountain bike – unlocked and disappeared into the shop. The police officers took the opportunity and checked the frame number of the bike. Result: It was reported stolen.

49 drug “bubbles” in the mouth – ready-to-sell bags

The police officers would then have waited for the cyclist in the checkout area. When he came towards them, he spoke remarkably indistinctly when asked and probably had something hidden in his mouth. The officers asked him to spit out the contents, police reported. Instead, the man tried to swallow the contents and run away. The police officers prevented that, “eventually the suspect spat out 49 bubbles presumably filled with cocaine,” the police said.

According to the police spokeswoman, “bubbles” are “small packets of drugs”, primarily for powder, packaged ready for sale, so to speak. According to the police, he had other drugs with him, several empty ziplock bags and several hundred euros in cash.
