A trio of suspected car thieves ran into the police in Berlin-Steglitz. The three men asked plainclothes police officers on Johanna-Stegen-Strasse early on Wednesday morning for the way to the Autobahn, the police said on Wednesday.

Accordingly, the police officers had noticed the white van with the men aged 21, 25 and 29 beforehand, which is why the officers checked the trio. The police officers found work gloves and burglary tools in the van, and they also found that some of the door locks were missing from the van.

The suspicion that the three men could be car thieves hardened when the police found that unknown persons had been tampering with a motorcycle on the corner of Johanna-Stegen-Strasse and Vionvillestrasse. The three men were taken into police custody. According to the police, whether the white van is a stolen vehicle is part of the ongoing investigation. (dpa)
