The Prosecutor’s Office continues to do justice for the victims of the gangs that for years were extorted; In this sense, after presenting irrefutable evidence, a 20-year prison sentence was achieved for Wilfredo Antonio Flores Rodríguez, who in 2021 demanded $200 from a merchant in exchange for letting him sell his products without problems and not making an attempt on his life. nor against his family.

On April 12 of that year, Rodríguez arrived at the victim’s business -located in Santa Ana- and identified himself as an active member of the 18 gang, he warned the merchant that if he wanted to continue selling and not suffer physical attacks, he had to pay them. $200 dollars.

The victim told the defendant that she did not have all the money demanded and that at the moment she could only give him half. The gang member received the hundred dollars and threatened him that he would return for the remainder.

Not having the money required, the victim decided to file a complaint and, with the support of the authorities, a procedure was coordinated for the controlled delivery of the money. On April 16, the gang member returned to the business to withdraw the remaining $100 but was arrested in flagrante delicto.

The evidence presented by the Office of the Attorney General of the Republic was conclusive and demonstrated the guilt of Flores in the crime of Aggravated Extortion in a continuous modality.
