“U2” releases “Songs of surrender” and there’s nothing to throw away

Like the Stones (but when we wrote “Satisfaction”, all is forgiven) or the Who (but when we wrote “My Generation”…), U2 arouses animosity – longevity, stadiums, money – accentuated among the Irish by Bono’s commitment and charitable actions, contrary to the rebellious clichés of rock. So, after five years without an album, when The Edge announced the “re-imagining”/re-recording of 40 standards of the group, we fear the worst. What to add to “Surrender” (Fayard), the imposing autobiography of Bono published in
