Police capture two people and seize 414 blocks of drugs in Ecuador

Quito.- The Ecuadorian Police reported this Saturday that they apprehended two people who tried to flee in a vehicle, in which they were transporting 414 blocks of drugs, but did not specify what type.

In a statement, the Police said that this morning after a “intense persecution” by the Motorized Operations Group (GOM) of the Durán and Modelo districts, the seizure of 414 blocks of controlled substances was achieved, in addition to the apprehension of two individuals in possession of a firearm.

The commander of Zone 8, General Willian Villarroel, reported that the Durán GOM agents were patrolling along an avenue, when they observed the presence of a vehicle with tinted windows, for which they proceeded to search.

However, the occupants of the vehicle tried to flee, for which the persecution began, to which personnel from the GOM of the Model District joined.

According to the Police, one of the occupants of the vehicle, identified as Estevan Roberto MN, pointed a revolver at one of the motorized police officers, who, faced with the threat, opened fire, slightly injuring the suspect.

Both the wounded man and his companion, identified as Jorge Washington H.C., abandoned the vehicle near the Guayaquil Bus Terminal and tried to flee; however, they were neutralized by the agents, the letter says.

The vehicle, inside which 17 sacks were found with the blocks of substances subject to control (whose weight has not been revealed) and a revolver, was reported stolen, for which reason it was entered into the Police vehicle retention yards Judicial.

The drug and the weapon were admitted to the collection centers of the Anti-Narcotics Headquarters and the Judicial Police, respectively.

The suspect who was injured was taken to a health home, where he is recovering under police protection, while his companion was placed under the orders of the Prosecutor’s Office in the Model Flagrancy Unit.
