Police in Mississippi apologize for arresting 10-year-old boy for urinating behind his mother's car

Police in Senatobia, Mississippi, have publicly apologized for arresting a 10-year-old boy. for urinating behind his mother’s car, USA Today reported on Friday.

The boy’s mother, identified as Latonya Eason, was in a lawyer’s office. in said city, south of Memphis, when an agent approached her and told her that the minor had been caught urinating in a public space.

As the woman told WHBQ-TV, she questioned the boy why he had done it, and he replied that because her sister told her that there was no bathroom available in the office where she was located.

The mother told her son that she should have told him about the situation.

At that time, an officer told him that since he had handled the incident in a good way, the minor could return to the vehicle and that he would make a referral for them to attend a court date.

Despite the above, more uniformed arrived on the scene. A lieutenant who was in the group said the minor I had to go to jail for urinating in public.

“I am speechless right now. Why would you arrest a 10-year-old boy?”the woman told the station. “For an officer to tell my son to get back in the car, that’s fine; but others arrest him and take him to jail. Like not… ”, Eason questioned.
