A Police agent was shot during an intervention in which a man was killed, at about 12:22 am this Monday, on Double A avenue, in the Ciudad Universitaria urbanization, in Trujillo Alto.
According to the preliminary report of the Police, citizens alerted the authorities about several shots fired during the night. Agents from the Shottspotter Shooting Detention Unit carried out a patrol and intervened with the occupants of a motorbike for violations of the Traffic Law, when one of the subjects opened fire on them.
One of the policemen was injured in the right leg, for which the other uniformed man repelled the attack.
In the incident, the second man involved drove the motorboat away from the scene, leaving the injured passenger at the scene. Medical emergencies appeared at the place, who certified the death of the man. A firearm was seized at the scene.
The wounded policeman was transported to the Hospital Centro Médico de Río Piedras, in stable condition.
Agents from the Use of Force Investigation Division of the Puerto Rico Police Bureau, agents from the Special Investigations Bureau (NIE) and prosecutor Carlos Peña, are in charge of investigating the case.
