Police recover $24K from Santander bank heist in Providence in June

Providence, Rhode Island police said Friday they recovered $24,000 from a Federal Hill bank robbery.

The police told WJAR that the money was found in a storage unit in North Providence that was searched in July.

Police said they would not release further details due to the ongoing investigation.

Two people stole around $500,000 from the vault at a Banco Santander branch on Atwells Avenue in late June.

According to a police report, surveillance cameras recorded two people entering an access code and entering through the back of the bank.

They were then caught on camera entering a second code and gaining access to the vault.

Police had said that a Banco Santander employee was a person of interest in the bank robbery.
