The police in Voerde caught a suspected fraudster late Thursday evening. The 22-year-old was wanted on an arrest warrant.

A 22-year-old man wanted for several crimes was arrested in Voerde late Thursday evening. According to witnesses, the police had checked the car in which the man was sitting.

The 22-year-old was found in a Kia Proceed on Thursday around 11 p.m. on Lippestrasse in Voerde. As it turned out, not only the license plates of the car were stolen, but also the car itself. The car was stolen during a test drive in Dorsten at the end of November 2022 and has since disappeared, a police spokesman reported on Friday morning when asked.

The 22-year-old was wanted on an arrest warrant, the spokesman said. According to the police, there are several criminal proceedings against him, including for fuel fraud.

“During initial investigations, another fraudulently obtained car was assigned to the 22-year-old,” the police also reported. The police said there were also other license plates reported as stolen on board the Kia in Voerde.






The 22-year-old spent the night in police custody in Dinslaken. During Friday he should come to a correctional facility, the spokesman said. Both cars were seized by the police.


The police continue to investigate.
