A bill has been submitted by the government regarding the age verification of porn sites like Pornhub or Youporn. If adopted, Arcom will strengthen its powers and may block sites that do not check whether visitors are of legal age.

A bill plans to increase the powers of Arcom
Making pornographic sites bend to prevent access to minor users via age verification is the government’s new objective. In an interview for AFP, the Minister Delegate for Digital, Jean-Noël Barrot, announces that a bill will be presented on May 10 to strengthen the powers of Arcom.

How will age verification work on porn sites?
Contacted by Tom’s Guide, the CNIL commented on the experiment that is currently taking place with the age verification of users. The committee verifies that these devices do not infringe the privacy of Internet users set by the GDPR implemented in Europe. Aware of the possible problems, the CNIL recommends the use of independent trusted third parties to verify users. This method is used during the experiment.
The CNIL recalls that ” it is up to the pornographic sites to choose and implement, right now, a solution that respects legal age verification requirementsunder the control of Arcom and the judicial judge ».
