Since then, 38 consecutive raffles have been held without a grand prize winner.

In 2023, the Powerball jackpot was won six times. The last one, on October 11, with a jackpot of 1,765 million for a ticket purchased in California. That has been, so far, the second highest prize in the history of the game.

To participate in Powerball, five numbers are chosen between 1 and 59, and a sixth number between 1 and 26, which is called Powerball. Players can select numbers on a ballot or they can let the lottery machine pick them at random.

Tickets to participate cost $2 per play. The odds of winning a prize are 1 in 24.9; and those of winning the jackpot, 1 in 292.2 million.
