Powerful tornado devastates everything in its path in southeastern Colorado, killing several animals

DENVER, Colorado – A powerful tornado touched down in southeastern Colorado on Friday near the city of Granada in Prowers County.

The storm devastated a farm, leaving considerable damage to several structures. Fortunately, no injuries were reported, although unfortunately some animals lost their lives, according to the Prowers County Sheriff’s Office.

The National Weather Service (NWS) confirmed the presence of the tornado in Prowers County, south of Grenada, at 5:52 pm on Friday, June 23. As of 6:17 p.m., the tornado was still active.

In addition, the NWS issued a tornado watch for Prowers County that was in effect from 6:30 p.m. to 7:15 p.m.

NWS said that preliminarily the intensity of this tornado could be EF-3 based on the damage caused in the area and the speed of its winds.
