The business sector has maintained as a priority objective to preserve the economic dynamism of Mexico, through open trade with the world. In addition, it is necessary that this effort be oriented in these times to take advantage of the nearshoring opportunity that our country is experiencing, derived from the need of world investors to reduce costs and approach the relevant market of the United States. It is in this context that Mexico is today participating in the most important industrial fair in the world: the Hannover Messe 2023 Industrial Fair.

The presence of Mexico in said fair is of crucial importance. Germany is Mexico’s main partner in the European Union, while our country is Germany’s main partner in Latin America, with trade close to 24 billion dollars annually.

The rapprochement with Germany within the framework of the Hannover Messe 2023 Industrial Fair is taking place with various events and actors. First of all, together with several state governments and hand in hand with the Mexican Foreign Ministry, we inaugurated the Mexico Pavilion, which bears the country brand as it has not been done since 2019. In addition, we are participating in co-chairing the third edition of the CEO Roundtable Mexico- Germany. CONCAMIN, COPARMEX and 160 Mexican companies also participate in the intense dialogue that we are establishing with German companies and government representatives.

In the work agenda, Mexicans share five common objectives. First, to promote Mexico as an attractive recipient of high technology investments to take advantage of nearshoring. In the case of Germany, we have come a long way, and this is reflected in the presence of around 2,000 German companies in national territory. Secondly, we seek to learn from their good practices to reinforce the inclusion of SMEs in the value chains derived from relocation, as well as the training of human talent.

Thirdly, it will be necessary to strengthen cooperation with Germany to develop strategies that harmonize employment with the technological modernization derived from advances in artificial intelligence, digitization, automation and continuous renewal of productive machinery. As a fourth point, we will have to know times and plans to continue expanding the conversion of the electromobility industry, which will require rapid adaptation processes from us to these new times to come in terms of electric vehicles, in convergence with sustainability trends in the world and, therefore, in the block of North America. Finally, it is irreversible that in the future of Mexican industrial development we prepare for the accelerated growth of the processes of generation and use of clean energy, and whose novelties are also exhibited within the framework of the fair.

In conclusion, the business sector in Mexico assumes the permanent challenge of getting closer to our main partners and, in turn, strengthening their ties through Mexico, having nearshoring in national territory as the common link, investment and trade center, in obvious benefit for the development of our country.
