The appointment will be next Friday, August 11, and the Head of State is expected to intervene to “demonstrate the serious humanitarian crisis faced by the inhabitants of the department of the Atlantic Coast and, especially, the population of the north of the Guajira peninsula. », said in a statement the Casa de Nariño.

Eyes on La Guajira

On July 2, the Government issued the decree declaring a state of emergency in La Guajiradue to the calamitous situation in which a large part of its population finds itself due to the deficiencies in basic sanitary services, energy, famine problems and the increase in temperatures in that desert area.

At the hearing, the highest constitutional court hopes to hear the voices of different sectors to find answers to the serious events that led the Executive to make the decision to decree that state of emergency.

The exceptional measures of the decree are intended to “guarantee food security and sovereignty in La Guajirathrough financing, marketing, transportation, storage, sale or distribution of agricultural products, and land titling,” the government argued in its message.
