PRI Yucatán announces coalition for 2024

The president of the State Steering Committee Institutional Revolutionary Party (PRI) Yucatan, Francisco “Panchito” Torres Rivas announced that for the next elections the tricolor will have a coalition, with which they assure they will have several victories, including the state governorship.

During a first meeting with the media, the leader of the tricolor responded to political questions from the press and in the company of the CEN delegate in Yucatan, Genaro Abreu Barrosotook the opportunity to send a message to the Yucatecan PRI.

The PRI in 41 municipalities

The state leader externalized that the Institutional Revolutionary has managed to maintain 41 municipalities of the 106 municipalities of Yucatán and in the past elections in more than 35 municipalities they came in second place, so they are sure that in 2024 the results will be positive for the PRI in Yucatán.

“We have a great structure and for it we can say that the PRI members have achieved very important positions and this time it will not be the exception,” he said.

He expressed that despite the scandals where several Yucatan PRI characters have seen themselves turned around and rubbing shoulders with other parties, specifically with Morena, he denied that the mayor of Tecoh, Joel Isaac Achach Diazthat of Motul, Roger Aguilar Arroyo and the former candidate for the governorship of Yucatan, Mauricio Sauhi Riverohave abandoned the PRI.

“Even in the best families there are betrayals, that’s why we have to work on the unity of the party, because the issue does not concern us, it does concern us, but the three of them were just a misunderstanding,” he stressed.

He explained that the first thing they do as a party is to strengthen themselves, “always being close to the people as a center-left party, no one will do for us what we don’t do”.

And although at the national level his party has seen maintaining the coalition with the PAN and the PRD as an option, in Yucatán it will not be the same story, since Acción Nacional has been its biggest rival in the Yucatecan entity, leaving aside the growth of Morena, which according to Torres Rivas “is not something that worries the PRI.”

Given this, they have already prepared a strategy to win, even recover the Government of the State of Yucatán and this has been a coalition, of which they affirm that it will be the largest in the PRI, “ensuring the unity and stability of the party and as a leadership it is our responsibility to maintain it,” he said.

“We already have it prepared, it will be a great coalition of which neither the PAN nor Morena is taking into account, it is the coalition with the citizens,” he said.

Regarding the renewal of the State Political Council of the PRI, he affirmed that in these times “it would be very complex and exhausting”, for which reason no changes are contemplated in the party, in Yucatán, until after the 2024 elections.
