It is now 23 years since Nintendo unveiled its little cubic console with much fanfare at Spaceworld, their very own trade show that ran between 1989 and 2001. Five machines were on site, all in different colors and although none of them were functional, collectors frantically tried to find any of these prototypes. Something that now seems to have happened. Console Variations could namely today show an image of the indigo version, a near priceless collector’s item for Nintendo fans and now only the black, gold, silver and pink remain to be found. Assuming they still exist and haven’t gone to a scrapyard somewhere. A video from Nintendo Spaceworld 2000 is available to watch here for those who so desire.

What would you be willing to pay to have this Gamecube prototype on your shelf?

As unlikely as finding gold at the end of the rainbow.
