On January 10, Prince Harry’s autobiography “Spare” was released in a number of countries in different languages.
Since the beginning of the year, both Danes and Swedes have had the opportunity to read the book in their mother tongue, but in Norway readers have had to make do with the English version.
In April, the book will finally be published in Norwegian under the name “In the shadow”.

To VG tells Kjetil Kristoffersen, the owner of the publisher Kristoffersen Publishing where the book is released, that he has been in the bidding round to get the rights to the Norwegian edition.
Kristoffersen does not know who he bid against, nor can he say anything about the sum he had to pay, but does not hide that it was not cheap.
– It costs quite a lot. It’s actually a bit like playing the long odds, only that the stakes are bigger. But all releases at that level are a calculated risk, he says to VG.
VG writes that they contacted both Gyldendal, Aschehoug, Cappelen Damm, Kagge and Bonnier before the world launch of the book in January.
None of them had then bought the rights to the book.
– In retrospect, it may well be thought that it was not a correct assessment, and that this will sell well in Norwegian. We’ll see, says Bonnier CEO Alexander Even Henriksen to VG.
