Princess Ingrid Alexandra was born at Rikshospitalet in Oslo on Wednesday 21 January 2004.
She will be 19 years old on Saturday.

Gala dinner
It was last year that the princess came of age, and with that came a grand celebration.
Due to the pandemic, the 18th birthday was marked a full five months after the princess’s birthday.
The first part of the celebration was organized by the government, at the Deichman library in Bjørvika.
– Thank you to everyone who has contributed to making this evening an experience both for me and everyone who is here today. I would also like to thank all the guests who have come from all over the country. The experience becomes even more worthwhile when I have so many people to share it with, said the princess in connection with that celebration.
Proud grandfather
The following day, the second part of the official celebration followed. Then the Palace invited 202 guests to a gala dinner on the occasion of the princess’s official day.

King Harald has previously commented on the celebration of the day of authority for the grandson.
In a feature on NRK’s ”The Year with the Royal Family” comes the king with words of praise about the grandson.
– It was no surprise to me that she managed that way, because she is impressive, says the king about the princess.
Private celebration
In contrast to last year’s spectacular celebration, the princess’s birthday will be marked privately this year.
Assistant Head of Communications at the Royal Court, Sven Gjeruldsen says that they will not comment on how the princess’s celebration will be this year.
– That day is marked privately, he says.
