Mexico City.- Before the arrival of Constellation Brands in Mexico 10 years ago, the company currently produces 90 percent of the Mexican beer that is exported to the United States.
In a conference, Daniel Baima, president of Constellation Brands Mexico, explained that the neighboring country to the north currently receives 97 percent of Mexican beer exports.
“Mexico continues to position itself as the number one producer and exporter of beer in the world. That export is about more than 550 million dollars a month, more than 97 percent of that is from the United States,” he said.
According to data from the firm, the current percentage of beer sales to the United States grew after the company’s arrival in the Mexican market in 2013.
He explained that currently two brands of Mexican origin, Modelo Especial and Corona, are among the five most consumed brands in the neighboring northern country.
Regarding the plant under construction that was originally planned for Mexicali, the manager explained that in the middle of next year it is planned to start logistical tests to transport through railways, highways, but especially from the Port, to serve the East Coast from United States.
“Soon, depending on the program, we are going to see the structure erected so that it can be seen from the road. We are going to start doing tests around the middle of next year, especially transport logistics tests in the four possibilities that Veracruz opens up for us” , the manager said.
The board recalled that for the next four years, Constellation Brands has an approved investment of 5.5 billion dollars, which will be added to the 9 billion dollars that they have already allocated to Mexico in the last 10 years, while only for Veracruz, 1.3 billion dollars are expected.
He pointed out that the Veracruz plant is currently in the process of clearing the land and obtaining permits, so the work has not started on the structure.
