Members of the mayor’s Public Participation Unit come to Inwood to inform residents about the rent freeze program, known in English as “Rent Freeze.”
Officials visited those apartments that could qualify for the program, in order to inform their tenants.

Those who qualified (people with a disability or those over 62 years of age) received free support to begin the rent freeze application process.
Local government data estimates that about 63,000 New Yorkers could qualify for the program, but most are not enrolled.
Of the potential beneficiaries, Inwood has the largest number of eligible residents.
This initiative is part of a broader effort by Mayor Adams’ administration to create sustainable and affordable housing options for New Yorkers.
