Cologne (NRW) – Those were pure emotions!

The German cult band played a touching concert on Sunday evening in front of a sold-out Lanxess Arena. After many years Hartmut Engler (61) with his colleagues finally back on stage in Cologne. And the gentlemen enjoyed that.

As a greeting, the band played their hit “Freunde” and Engler greeted the 16,000 fans: “It’s been five years since we were here. A lot has changed in the past few years, but one thing has remained the same: we are on stage and you are all there too. Craziness.”

Again and again the frontman just stood there in disbelief, laughed at the crowd – and could hardly believe his luck. “We decided to just enjoy this after such a long absence.”

On her “Personal” tour, Pur also presented new songs that dealt with the corona pandemic and the topic of war in a socially critical manner.

At what was probably the most emotional moment of the evening, everyone in the Lanxess Arena had tears in their eyes. At the end of When She Hears This Tango, the audience loudly cheered the singer. He had written the song for his mother, who had already passed away. In the background of the stage you could see a photo of Hartmut and his mother.

Then suddenly the frontman can no longer hold back his feelings – tears roll down his cheeks: “I can’t get rid of this naive thought that she is now sitting up there and listening, drinking a glass of champagne and saying: ‘Bub, you have that well done’.”

But then Engler immediately switches back to feel-good mode. This is followed by hits that make the hall tremble, such as “Adventure Land” or “Grey Hair”.

Another highlight: Hartmut sings some of his songs with the PUR opening act, the a cappella group Naturally 7 – goosebumps! After about two hours of emotional rollercoaster, the concert is over.

PUR can be seen in North Rhine-Westphalia on May 5th in Dortmund’s Westfalenhalle.
