Elidon Qenaj remains with 1. FC Heidenheim. The 19-year-old striker is extending his contract with the current third-placed player in the second division until the summer of 2024. Robert Strauss, Head of Sport at Heidenheim, explains the extension: “Since Elidon joined our first team last summer he has impressed us with his willingness to learn and his mentality. His injury was of course all the more bitter because Eli was able to collect his first appearances in the 2nd division in this short time – that is not something to be taken for granted as a young player in his first year as a professional.”

And further: “In Elidon we see a young player from our own ranks with potential and with this contract extension we want to give him the chance to continue the performances we have shown so far after recovering from his injury.” Qenaj has been out since October of last year due to a cruciate ligament tear, but is now back in rehab training. Before his injury, the young talent made three short appearances in the league.
