This Friday, the polo player Rafael Pando, cousin of Adolfo Cambiaso, died after playing a match corresponding to the Municipality of Cañuelas Cup. The 55-year-old man, who was part of the victory of his team, La Plegaria, began to feel bad and was treated at a hospital, but his condition did not improve and he died of cardiorespiratory arrest.

The tournament was suspended and in the next few hours checks will be carried out to confirm the causes that led to the strike and his subsequent death.

After the autopsy, it emerged that the polo player will be buried this Sunday, although the place where his remains will rest was not revealed.

Pando was a renowned player who also competed in England, France and Spain. He was the cousin of Adolfo Cambiaso, Argentine polo legend, and currently shared a team with Poroto Cambiaso, son of the aforementioned polo player.

It is worth mentioning that his son, Rafita Pando, 25, had won a few days before, also together with Poroto, the Copa de las Estancias, and even one of his mares had won the prize for the best horse in the final. The Copa de las Estancias is the most important trophy of the Guardia del Monte club, which is located in San Miguel del Monte, and of which Rafael was the president.

“Goodbye Rafa. We are going to miss you very much. Thank you for all the beautiful memories you leave us. A huge hug to all the dearest Pando family,” the La Dolfina team wrote on their social networks in a post.
