The CEO of the public group Algerian red meat (Alviar) assured yesterday, Wednesday January 11, 2023, that Algerians will be able to buy red meat at the price of 1200 dinars per kilogram, before the start of the month ramadan 2023.
On the sidelines of the celebration of the 48th anniversary of the National Union of Algerian Farmers (UNAA), the general manager of Alviar, Lamine Derradji, made a statement to the media in which he affirmed that before the month of Ramadan, the red meat will be available on the Algerian market at the price of 1200 DA/kg.
To achieve this objective, the CEO of Alviar explained that the government’s plan was to import large quantities of red meat from “brother countries and countries of South America”. It will also be a question of renewing the operation of transporting additional quantities of meat from the wilayas of southern Algeria. A solution that the state has already implemented last year.

L. Derradji then assured that these imported meats will be distributed throughout the national territory and will therefore be available in the 58 wilayas of the Republic, at prices “which do not exceed 1200 DA/kg”. Through this approach, the Algerian red meat company aims, on the one hand, to put an end to speculation; on the other hand, to regulate the market for a commodity whose prices have skyrocketed to the point of becoming inaccessible to ordinary citizens.
It should be noted that this operation, as pointed out by the CEO of Alviar, aims “to support farmers in a difficult global situation due to difficult climatic conditions and drought which have caused the price of cereals to rise on the markets. international”.
