Participants said the game show – based on the horrific game show Squid Game about a deadly contest – quickly became a nightmare on Monday when they were forced to stand for hours in -3C temperatures.

A player said, “We were tortured for eight hours. We were just fodder. You wouldn’t treat animals like that.

“I know the show was supposed to be tough, but it was inhuman.

“At one point I could see they were bringing a black coffin with a pink ribbon, just like in the original show.

“I feel like they prioritized getting a good photo over helping us.”

Another contestant said he saw a woman collapse in front of them during one of the breaks in the match.

They said: “Her head hitting the floor echoed around the studio before she started having what seemed like a seizure to me.

“Then another lady collapsed. They were dropping like flies.

The Sun yesterday reported how many players left the UK in tears after the first game was filmed – Red Light, Green Light.

The producers had given the contestants heating pads but took them away before the cameras started rolling.

The streaming giant has invited 456 hopefuls to compete for a £3.7million prize. The edited show is set to be released as a ten-part series.

In the 2021 fictional South Korean television series, the players who lost the match were shot by machine guns.

Those in the reality version were given blood bags under their clothes that would automatically trigger if they moved during the break – to make it look like they had been shot.

Some of the players complained that the show was unfair and they were wrongfully eliminated.

In a video seen by The Sun which was taken on Tuesday, 44 losers gathered to chant “We didn’t move” as they waited for their flight home.

A contestant said: “My blood bag exploded even when I didn’t move like a lot of other people.”

Some players traveled from as far away as the United States, Dubai, New Zealand and Australia to participate.

The game show is filmed at Cardington Studios – a former RAF base – near Bedford.

Netflix denied anyone was seriously injured during the game and said three people needed minor medical attention.

The streaming giant said it, along with Studio Lambert and The Garden – two production companies making the show with Netflix – consider the care of contributors a top priority and that “regular bathroom breaks, water and food are categorically standard practices in production”.

He added: “Every precaution has been taken to ensure the game is conducted safely.”
