Many players think they know the almost sick detail that Rockstar Games put on Red Dead Redemption 2, but they eventually discover that 5 years of playing isn’t enough to see them all. While some come naturally, others require a little help. However, for the one that concerns us directly, we need someone who knows history.
We’ve all seen the American flags on red dead redemption 2. The most emblematic is found deep in Saint Denis, but there are many others scattered around the map. What if I told you that there is a tiny detail in them that has to do with historical accuracy?
The US flag currently (2023) has 50 white stars on a blue background, which in turn is flanked by the famous white and red bars. Each star represents each of its states. Red Dead Redemption 2 takes place (for the most part) in 1899 and then the country did not have the same number of states.

Rockstar Games’ detail and historical accuracy when it comes to setting the game is absurdly wonderful… although there is a big “but”. the epilogue starts in 1908 and Rockstar Games used the same flag as in the main campaign, which breaks historical accuracy a bit in terms of the number of stars.
It would not be until 1907 that the flag would have 46 stars, when Oklahoma became a state. In 1912 Arizona and New Mexico joined, adding 48 stars. Finally, in 1960 it was joined by Alaska and shortly thereafter by Hawaii, reaching the flag we know today out of 50 stars.
