Step.- Twenty Republican states sued the Joe Biden government on Tuesday in order to seek to block his immigration plan that offers asylum to 30,000 migrants from Haiti, Nicaragua, Cuba and Venezuela every month.

Local media point out that the lawsuit, led by Texas, argues that said program is “illegal” given the “exceptionally limited” parole power of the federal government.

“The parole program established by the Department fails to meet each of the three limiting factors of the law. It is not on a case-by-case basis, it is not for compelling humanitarian reasons, and it does not further any significant public benefit,” the lawsuit states.

“Instead, it amounts to the creation of a new visa program that allows hundreds of thousands of aliens to enter the United States who otherwise would have no basis to do so. This flouts, rather than follows, the clear limits imposed by the Congress”.

President Joe Biden announced earlier this month the new immigration measure for people from Haiti, Nicaragua, Cuba and Venezuela.

The new immigration plan indicates that each month 30,000 citizens of these countries will be received who pass the process, which, among other things, involves having a sponsor on US soil, passing a background check, and being able to buy a plane ticket to travel. to the US once they are approved.

Undocumented migrants who try to enter the United States through the southern border will be immediately expelled to Mexico and will not be able to apply for the program.
