Unlike the Insoumis, the ecologists or communists chose to withdraw their proposals, hoping, without success, to be able to arrive in the allotted time to examine article 7 postponing the legal age of departure to 64 years.

The national secretary of the Communist Party Fabien Roussel called on the left on Sunday to “draw inspiration” from the inter-union unity, after having displayed disagreements on the strategy to be held in the Assembly against the pension reform.

“The topic of the moment is (…) how we are inspired by this inter-union made up of very different unions and which manages to speak with the same voice, to be united, without having to create a Nupes of the unions. This inspires me a lot and I think that the left should be inspired by it”, pleaded Mr. Roussel on the set of Sunday in politics, on France 3.

“The unity of the inter-union obliges us. It obliges us to be united and to move forward together”, insisted Fabien Roussel.

The left alliance Nupes was divided in the Assembly on the advisability of maintaining, or not, the thousands of amendments tabled on the text reforming pensions.

“We have disagreements”

Unlike the Insoumis, the ecologists or communists chose to withdraw their proposals, hoping, without success, to be able to arrive in the allotted time to examine article 7 postponing the legal age of departure to 64 years.

“I regret this step aside made by some Insoumis deputies”, underlined Fabien Roussel who would have “liked that we had this debate and this vote” on article 7.

“The French could have seen what their deputy voted or did not vote,” he argued.

Asked about a possible questioning of the alliance, Fabien Roussel said he did not want to add “a piece in the dividing machine”.

“We have differences, we have disagreements” but “we will continue to fight together against the pension reform”, he assured, referring in particular to “the exceptional mobilization to come in the street” from 7 March.
