Reuse instead of throwing away

Since 2010, the Vorarlberg Environment Week has been taking place around World Environment Day on June 5th. This year, with the main topic of re-use, the initiators presented important impulses on Wednesday to think about their own actions.

“In this context, I would also like to once again express great respect and thanks for the more than 15,000 volunteer helpers of this year’s landscape cleaning,” said Mäder’s mayor Rainer Siegele, responsible for waste and the environment in the presidency of the Vorarlberg municipal association: At the landscape cleaning in 2023, no less than write almost 64 tons of waste collected from roadsides, water bodies, streets, squares or meadows.

That may sound frightening, but “the number is also a clear and important signal that we have it in our hands. Literally!” The Environment Week, which takes place from June 3rd to 11th around World Environment Day – June 5th – would focus on the two topics of waste and the environment under the powerful motto “Re-Use: Use again instead of throwing away. Because the environment is worth it!” and aims to show that the Environment Week lives above all from the ideas and commitment of the people of Vorarlberg.

The Environment Week is getting a new face this year. “She presents her cultural side. This is how facts and feelings are conveyed,” explains Mäder’s mayor Rainer Siegele, member of the executive committee of the association of municipalities. “The community association is launching an exhibition project in Dornbirn for the first time at the UmweltVestival with ‘The digital re-use art park’,” reveals Siegele on Vorarlberg LIVE.
