The prelude to the 2023 Oscar Awards took place this Monday at a lunch organized by the Hollywood Academy for all the nominees who will compete in the different categories next Sunday, March 12, at the 95th Oscar Awards ceremony.
And there was the meeting that revolutionized social networks with the photo of the Argentine actor Ricardo Darinand the director Santiago Miter competing for “Best Spanish Language Film” with “Argentina, 1985” and the Hollywood star, Tom Cruisewho is nominated along with “Top Gun: Maverick” for best picture.
From his instagram account, Miter played with the photo and after posting it he wrote: “With Ricardo we couldn’t say no”. While they pose with the North American actor who for the first time competes for best film with the prequel to top guna film that he popularized in 1986, while, during his long career, he was nominated 3 times for “Best Actor” with “Born on July 4” (1986), “Jerry Maguire” (1996) and as “Best Supporting Actor ” for his participation in “Magnolia” (1999).
At the same time as for Ricardo Darín, this is his fourth nomination since he was part of the cast of the films nominated for an Oscar for “The Son of the Bride” (2001), “The Secret in Their Eyes” (2009), “Wild Tales ” (2014) and now “Argentina, 1985” (2022). With the difference that in the case of the Argentine he managed to join the prestigious award with the film directed by Juan José Campanella, while Cruise has yet to win the coveted award and the most important award in the film industry.
It should be noted that the lunch organized by the Academy featured renowned film personalities such as Steven Spielberg, Guillermo del Toro, Michelle Williams, Colin Farrell, Austin Butler, Jamie Lee Curtis, Brendan Fraser, Rita Wilson, Cate Blanchett and Paul Mescal, among others.
