HOUSTON – With just hours to go before the space city celebrates America’s Independence Day with the annual “Freedom Over Texas” event. As part of the preparations, a series of road closures will take place in different areas of the city on Tuesday, July 4, from 4:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. These closures will affect some important streets and access roads to the celebration.
From Sunday, July 2 at 7:00 a.m. to Wednesday, July 5 at 5:00 a.m., the following accesses will be closed:
- The Allen Parkway north and south exit ramps from I-45 (South and North Freeways).
- Allen Parkway heading west in Bagby.
- Allen Parkway heading east in Taft. There will be no access to I-45/Heiner/Crosby until 5:00 pm on Wednesday, July 5.
- Sabine Street at Memorial Drive and on the bridge, blocking southbound traffic from Allen Parkway.
- Gillette Street (middle of the block) near the Federal Building (after the apartment entrance).
- Access blocked from Walker and Sabine to Allen Parkway and Sabine Street. The entrance ramp to I-45 North and the loop to McKinney will remain open.
- Crosby Street at W. Dallas Street.
- Heiner Street at W. Dallas Street.
On Tuesday, July 4, from 8:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m., the following closures will be in effect:
- Bagby heading north in Dallas.
- Lamar between Smith and Bagby.
- Brazos Street in Dallas.
From 3:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 4, the following will be closed:
- Bagby heading south on Rusk.
Between 5:00 pm and 10:30 pm on Tuesday, July 4, the following closures will be implemented:
- Silver Street at Memorial Drive.
- Sawyer Street at Washington Avenue.
- Allen Parkway heading east in Waugh.
- Allen Parkway Service Road at Montrose Boulevard (access allowed to residents at all times).
- Memorial Drive heading east on Waugh Drive.
- Westbound Memorial Drive in Bagby.
Finally, from 9:00 pm to 10:00 pm, during the fireworks display, it will be closed:
- Sabine Street between Allen Parkway and Memorial Drive.
It is important to note that the stretch of the Buffalo Bayou Waterway between the Capitol Street Bridge and Montrose Boulevard / Studemont Street will be closed from 4:00 pm to 10:00 pm on Tuesday, July 4.
