During a visit to Hamburg, the musician Robbie Williams claims to have hung up his own work of art in a hotel unnoticed and found it exactly there months later. “I lived in a nice hotel in Hamburg, I left something on the wall,” the Brit posted on Instagram and published a video. He drew “the simplest abstract art you can ever make” on his tablet, Williams describes.

As a result, in November 2022 he had printed, framed, signed and hung the picture. The image shows gray and black intertwined lines and dots on a white background. Below it is written in English: “Hotels hang up all the old crap and call it art.” In November, Williams was a guest for a concert in the Elbphilharmonie.

When he visited Hamburg again at the end of January 2023, the picture was still hanging on the wall, he said in a second part of the video. “It’s still there. You didn’t mention anything. I guess it went unnoticed.” Williams was in the Hanseatic city for three concerts at the beginning and end of February. “That is fun. I’ll do that more often,” he announced in the video.

The hotel itself declined to comment on Williams’ video. “We maintain the discretion of each of our guests, so we will not comment on it,” said a spokeswoman.
