ALLENSPARK, Colo. – A large rock slide forced the closure of CO 7 Highway at mile marker 23 from Colo. 72 near Allenspark to US 36 in Lyons.

The rock slide occurred at approximately 7:30 a.m. Wednesday.

Crews are working at the site, but a prolonged closure is expected, the Colorado Department of Transportation said on its Twitter account.

Authorities advise drivers to avoid this area, if possible, and seek alternative routes. Drivers must watch for detour signs and follow instructions from teams on site.
