HOUSTON – The identity of the worker who died Tuesday afternoon after a fall from the roof of a Friendswood ISD gymnasium that was being repaired was revealed Wednesday.

According to the Galveston County Office of Forensic Sciences, the victim is Moises Alejandro Morales, 26, of Mexico.

Morales suffered after suffering blunt force blows to the head, according to the coroner’s report.

Initial versions indicate that the roof was undergoing renovations when the collapse occurred that killed Morales and left three more people injured.

It is unknown what caused the ceiling to fall.

So far, the only statement from the Friendswood Independent School District was the one issued upon learning of the incident, in which money was “heartbroken.”

Friendswood ISD explained that the collapse occurred in a construction area inside the current boys’ gym.

“Friendswood High School will remain closed until further notice,” officials said.
