Since veteran Halo developer Bungie’s looter-shooter Destiny launched in 2014, they’ve been constantly upgrading their base game with regular updates, DLCs, and expansions. According to game files found by users on D2 Datamine’s Discord server, Bungie is now experimenting with possibly bringing out one-, three-, six-, and twelve-month subscriptions to Destiny 2 to avoid unit purchases. These subscriptions will also include extra content and will be launched in conjunction with regular expansions.

Right now, Bungie is working on the next Destiny 2 expansion called Lightfall, which will be released in just over two months – on February 28th, 2023. If the subscription service would have launched in conjunction with Lightfall, we would have probably already heard about it, so we can assume that it – if it is realized at all – is further down the line.

In addition to Destiny 2-related content, it is rumored that Bungie, which has been owned by Sony for six months, is also working on two more projects. Partly a reboot of the Marathon series from 1994, partly an unnamed third-person action game.

Are you playing Destiny 2?
