Via a press release made public today, taken up by APOCE, the APC of Gué de Constantine warned against selling cat meat as that of the rabbit. Indeed, several butchers in this town have resorted to this fraudulent practice in order to mislead consumers. As a result, the Algerian consumer protection association has launched an alert on its official Facebook page.
In fact, Algeria has already experienced this kind of practice. In detail, dishonest sellers have marketed the meat of the donkey as that of the lamb. To tell the truth, this bad news had the effect of a bomb on the web. Indeed, recently the lack of hygiene at the level of fast food and even butcher shops has caused a lot of ink to flow.
While consumer protection associations have resorted to strong methods to put an end to this phenomenon, the main concerned continue to adopt these dangerous methods which can harm the health of Algerian citizens.
Sale of cat meat: the APC of Gué de Constantine takes measures
In order to protect consumers, the APC of Gué de Constantine has implemented certain measures. Via a press release released, the responsible departments insisted on the importance of checking the meat before purchase. In detail, consumers must ensure the presence of the tail and the head of the rabbit. This is to confirm that it is not a cat.
The responsible authorities have also indicated that this measure is part of awareness and protection. Since several alerts have been received from the Ministry of Commerce. Noting that no case of sale of cat meat has been recorded at the level of the commune of Gué de Constantine.
